Smartphones 🔗

Organization-owned smartphone 🔗
Organization-provided smartphones are subject to the same security policies, management requirements, and usage guidelines as company-issued laptops.
User-owned smartphone 🔗
You may request access to MobilityData’s systems (Google Docs, Slack, email, etc.) on your personal smartphone at any time. While not mandatory, this requires manager approval followed by setup assistance from the IT Manager.
A few notes:
- Both iPhones and Android devices are supported.
- Please update to the most recent OS version before installation, if possible.
- A work profile will be created on your device to separate your personal data from company data. This allows the IT Manager to remotely erase only company data if needed. The IT Manager cannot access your personal data, track your device location, or erase your personal information. For personal device tracking and backup, use your own services like iCloud for iPhones.
- Always install work-related applications through the designated business app store (iPhone) or work profile Play Store (Android). This maintains the separation between your personal and work data.
Instaling applications 🔗
Why install apps this way?
- The dedicated app store ensures proper separation between your personal data and company data. Work apps installed this way are containerized within the managed environment, preventing any mixing of personal and business information.
- Another reason is corporate app licenses that are managed through the dedicated store, ensuring the organization remains compliant with software licensing agreements and avoiding potential legal issues.
- Lastly, it’s a simpler way to manage authentication for your work accounts, separate from your personal ones.
To install applications on a smartphone after being added to MobilityData’s management system, follow these instructions:

- Open the Business app (can sometimes be black instead of white).
- From the list in the second tab (should open on that tab automatically), scroll to find the app you wish to install and tap install. You can use the magnifying glass to search for the app by name.
- Wait about 5 minutes for your phone to start installing the app.
- You can close the Business app.
Notes:
- You may need to approve the installation when prompted by iOS.
- Some apps may require additional authentication or setup after installation

- Search for “Play Store” on your phone or look in your app drawer. If the work profile is correctly installed, you will see two Play Store apps. Open the one with a briefcase icon.
- Browse or search for the application you wish to install. The app will be installed in your work profile.
- Close the app when done.
Notes:
- Work apps are marked with a briefcase icon so you can distinguish them from personal apps.
- The briefcase icon appears as a small overlay on the app icon, typically in the bottom-right corner
- Depending on which Play Store you launch (personal vs work), the app will be installed only in that profile.
- On some devices, you might also see separate “Personal” and “Work” tabs in your app drawer to help organize the apps.
