Personal data on MobilityData equipment

Updated May 26, 2025

Personal data is allowed on MobilityData’s equipment within reasonable limits. If space on the hard drive is low, personal data will be removed by the employee to free up space.

See Preservation of personal data.

Personal user accounts

A personal user account can be created alongside the professional and administrative ones, set up as a standard account only without administrative privileges.

Do not install your work accounts on personal equipments

Please do not set up MobilityData's accounts like your Google, Apple ID, Slack or any other account on equipment that is not provided by MobilityData, unless you received approval from your team leader or someone from the Executive/Operations team. Periodic checks might be performed by us to verify that this is the case. If you absolutely require this in order to work, please contact your team leader.

Note

An exception can be made if the employee makes a request with proper justification to their manager. Currently only applies for smartphones.

A work profile will be installed on your device with a clear separation between your personal and work data. The IT Manager will only have access to the work data, being able to remotely wipe it if the need arises.

Do not install personal services or applications on your work equipment

Please do not install personal or extra software, or setup personal accounts on the equipment provided by MobilityData. If you feel you need supplemental software installed, please contact your team leader or IT.

Installing personal applications or services on a work-provided device is not permitted for several important reasons:

  1. Licensing and Legal Compliance

Many applications and services are licensed for individual or personal use only. Installing them on a corporate device may violate licensing agreements, exposing both the employee and the organization to legal risks and potential penalties.

  2. Security and Data Protection

Personal software may not meet the company’s security standards and could introduce vulnerabilities or unauthorized access points. This increases the risk of malware, data leaks, or unauthorized data access — all of which compromise company information and systems.

  3. Privacy and Monitoring

Work devices are managed and monitored by the organization to ensure security and compliance. Personal apps may contain or access private information that you wouldn’t want to be logged, backed up, or potentially visible to IT administrators.

  4. Support and Maintenance

IT teams are responsible for supporting and maintaining company devices. Unauthorized software can cause conflicts, performance issues, or compatibility problems, making it harder for IT to troubleshoot and ensure consistent system performance.

  5. Ownership and Control

Devices provided by the company are business assets intended strictly for work-related use. Allowing personal software use creates ambiguity over device ownership and control, especially if personal accounts, licenses, or data become entangled with company systems.

Personal Apple IDs

A personal Apple ID is allowed inside apps like TV, Music or Podcasts, but not systemwide (via System Settings) within the work user account.

It is allowed however inside a personal user account, with the exception of Find My.

Preservation of personal data

Warning

No effort will be made to back up or restore personal data, music, photos or accounts by the IT Manager.

In the case of work termination, the organization has the right to remotely lock the hardware without notice and without justification, since the hardware is company property.

If the employee chooses to store personal data on MobilityData’s property, they must set up a proper saving mechanism to still have access to their personal data when termination occurs.

Personal data on a company hardware cannot be used as a reason to keep the hardware for any duration after the departure of an employee. The organization cannot be blamed for any loss of personal data.
